Our Story

Meko Bono was born from a deep passion for culture and a desire to promote the heritage of the Bono people. Founded by Nana Ama Kwakye, also known as Charity Kwakye, Meko Bono has grown into a significant cultural event over the past three years. Nana Ama, a registered nurse with a strong dedication to encouraging and uplifting others, saw the need to create a platform where the Bono culture could be celebrated and preserved.

Looking forward

As we look to the future, our goal is to secure more support and partnerships to ensure the sustainability of Meko Bono. We invite you to join us in this journey, whether by attending our events, becoming a sponsor, or simply spreading the word about the festival. At Meko Bono, we celebrate not just our past, but our present and future. We are committed to making Meko Bono a lasting symbol of the pride and resilience of the Bono people.

Our Festival

The highlight of Meko Bono is the grand durbar, an event that brings together all the chiefs of the two Bono Regions. This gathering is a unique opportunity to showcase our cultural heritage and engage in discussions that drive the socio-economic development of our regions. Over the years, the festival has become a beacon of unity, attracting participants from across Ghana and beyond. Despite the challenges we have faced, including a lack of sponsorship and significant personal investment, our commitment to Meko Bono remains unwavering. We believe in the power of culture to unite and uplift, and we are dedicated to continuing this journey.
